If psychological horror Saint Maud made you excited to see what writer/director Rose Glass would cook up next, you'll probably be even happier to hear that she's teaming up with Kristen Stewart for a romantic thriller called Love Lies Bleeding.
Co-written by Glass and Weronika Tofilska, it'll delve into the pressure-laden world of competitive bodybuilding, where a female bodybuilder develops the extreme qualities it takes to succeed.
Stewart, meanwhile, will not have to pack on the muscle for the film, as she's playing the co0-lead, the protective lover of the weightlifter. The search is now on to play the central figure, with the producers looking for authenticity – which could mean a newcomer in the main role.
Film4 developed the project with Glass and Tofilska, and plans to co-finance the film with fellow indie movie titans A24.
