Hearing about an exciting new project (or confirmation) from an otherwise dry earnings call is all the the rage at the moment. The latest is word from Lionsgate boss Jon Feltheimer, who confirmed that Rian Johnson officially has the thumbs up for a sequel to Knives Out.

Given that the writer/director has been hinting for a while that he has ideas for at least one more mystery featuring Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc, this isn't too much of a surprise. Add to that the fact that the movie was a critical hit, is closing on $300 million and, oh yes, has been nominated for an Oscar, among other awards.

Quite what it'll be about beyond the basic idea of another Blanc investigation is still itself a mystery, since Johnson hasn't said whether he's actually written another script yet. Still, this is the most positive step forward yet. If it doesn't go ahead, we'll suspect.... foul play.
