A Knight’s Tale

A smattering of stars are celebrating the New Year with something a little more substantial than a hangover. Four top names from the world of cinema were all included in the New Year's Honours which are given out for exceptional achievement or service. Director Alan Parker - who currently chairs the Film Council - was awarded a knighthood, as was actor Ben Kingsley. Speaking to the BBC Kingsley described the moment he found out that he'd been made a knight; 'The expletives coming out of my mouth... were not very knightly to put it mildly.' Other actors celebrating with awards include the twice Oscar-nominated actress Lynn Redgrave, who receives an OBE and Miriam Margolyes who also receives an OBE.
