Ailing comedy Confessions of a Dangerous Mind has received a hefty shot in the arm in the form of Moulin Rouge's sultry courtesan, Nicole Kidman. The 'unauthorised autobiography' --yes you read it right-- of Gong Show host Chuck Barris, charting the man's double life as game-show host cum CIA operative, looks to have finally found an even keel after months of choppy water. In fact, if we were the superstitious type, we'd probably have said that Confessions of a Dangerous Mind had stumbled across one too many black cats on it's journey into pre-production. Having failed to bag Mike Myers, John Cusack and Johnny Depp for the role of Barris, the film saw early talks with Requiem For a Dream director Darren Aronofsky failed to bear fruit. Even after finally landing Bryan Singer in the director's chair, the production was promptly halted by impending strike issues and Singer's impending X-Men 2. With Clooney now set to make the project his directorial debut and the addition of she-who-can-do-no-wrong, Nicole Kidman, the future is looking a lot brighter for this off-beat action comedy. Shooting is now scheduled to begin later this month.
