Kelsey Grammer, who's been largely absent from our screens (although never our hearts) since Fraser finished - but he's just signed on to play Ebeneezer Scrooge in An American Carol, an indie satire from David Zucker.

The film is a modern twist on Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol, with Grammer as a modern Scrooge in what's pitched as a satire that "lampoons contemporary American culture, particularly Hollywood".

Zucker, once part of the team that brought us Airplane!, Top Secret and The Naked Gun, most recently directed two Scary Movies, so let us pray for the sake of comedy and cinema that this is more of a return to form and less of a downward trend.

Filming is due to start later this month, and we're going to go ahead and guess that this will be released round about late November / early December. Yup, we're pretty ker-azy with our guesses around here.
