The cast for Once director John Carney’s new music-flavoured romantic drama Can A Song Save Your Life? just keeps getting better. Carney has a range of actors attached and has added Catherine Keener to the line up.

Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo are leading the ensemble, respectively playing a singer who moves to New York with her musician boyfriend only to be dumped when he finds success, and the down-on-his-luck record producer who discovers her warbling and helps her find her own path to fame. The pair starts to fall in love, which won’t be good news for Kenner’s character: she’ll be Miriam, his estranged wife.

James Corden, Hailee Steinfeld and musician Adam Levine are also all set to start shooting soon in New York. The film boasts a power producer, in the shape of Judd Apatow, who has worked with Keener himself on The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

Keener has just finished working on Paul Greengrass’ Captain Phillips with Tom Hanks and will also crop up in 'toon comedy The Croods and Peace, Love & Misunderstanding.
