She may have stolen ours in 27 Dresses, and operated on a few in Grey's Anatomy, but Katherine Heigl is set for even more encounters of the heart with her new romantic drama Life As We Know It.

The film, directed by TV impresario Greg Berlanti (of Dirty Sexy Money, Brothers And Sisters and Dawson's Creek fame) is to be co-produced by Heigl and her mum Nancy.

**Life As We Know It **has been floating around since 2001, but only now is the drama - about two singles who are named as the guardians of their mutual friends' oprhaned daughter - picking up speed with Heigl attached.

Heigl, who has been racking up the rom-coms with Knocked Up, 27 Dresses and her upcoming boys vs. girls comedy **The Ugly Truth **with ladies man Gerard Butler, and assassin comedy Five Killers which she is currently shooting.

Berlanti, who was in line to direct Seth Rogen in Green Lantern, having written the script, was taken off the project to helm Jewish family grief drama This Is Where I Leave You based on Jonathan Tropper's novel.

So it seems that Berlanti will be all cried out with his current slate of loss-infused movies. Heigl however will get to relax that kilowatt smile for a while and get back to the seriousness of her Grey's days. Life As We Know It is due sometime in 2010.
