Katee Sackhoff Sees Oculus

Though she’s never quite found the cinematic role to match the impact she had as Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica, Katee Sackhoff certainly isn’t hurting for work. She’s lined up a role in horror thriller Oculus, which already stars Doctor Who’s Karen Gillan.

The former Amy Pond is starring as Kaylie, a young woman who grew up haunted by the mysterious murder of her parents a decade ago. Though her brother went to prison for the crime, Kaylie is instead convinced that a haunted antique mirror was really to blame. And though her brother emerges from the slammer ready to move on, Kaylie can’t help but keep digging into the incident.

Sackhoff is on board to play Marie, Kaylie’s mother, in flashback scenes. Director Mike Flanagan co-wrote the script with Jeff Howard and the film should be shooting next month.

In addition to a set of films in various stages of pre-production (including the new Riddick movie, horror sequel The Haunting In Georgia and sci-fi revenge comedy Sexy Evil Genius), Sackhoff will be working on a second season of modern Western drama Longmire in the near future. Frankly it's good to see here anywhere onscreen - and so say we all.
