The latest promotional push for DreamWorks Animation's colourful, music-filled new 'toon Trolls can't strictly be called a trailer as it's more of a hybrid featurette thingy boasting input from voice stars Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick. It also has what we would consider a spoiler lurking within, so approach with caution if you decide to watch it below.

Trolls takes the hairy little toy beasts and crafts a world around them, one where they are the happiest, most joyous creatures ever to burst into song. Kendrick's Poppy is the ever-perky Poppy, prone to starting sing-alongs and generally looking to cheer everyone up. On the other end of the emotional spectrum, we have Timberlake's Branch, a gloomy, isolated member of the community, who is endlessly annoyed by those around him.

But when the larger Bergens – creatures who consider the Trolls to be a delicacy – swipe almost everyone else, it's up to Branch and Poppy to rescue them. Can an unexpected bond and a few tunes save the day? You'll have to see the movie to learn that, won't you?

Shrek Forever After's Mike Mitchell is on directing duty here alongside Walt Dohrn, and the cast also James Corden, Kunal Nayyar, Gwen Stefani and Russell Brand. Trolls will be out in the UK on October 21.
