The first trailer for Ken Kwapis’ multi-character rom-com, He’s Just Not That Into You, has just gone online over at MySpace – unsurprising, really, given that that site is namechecked 30 seconds into the trailer. But despite the blatant product placement, we have to say we’re utterly charmed.

Coming on like a **Short Cuts **that isn’t meant to depress the hell out of you, HJNTIY – catchy acronym – brings together a disparate cast of characters, all trying to get their heads around the topsy-turvy concept of this modern love. And what a cast it is, with Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, the fantastic Justin Long, Jennifer Connelly, Bradley Cooper, Drew Barrymore, Kevin Connolly, Ginnifer Goodwin and Scarlett Johansson all involved, mostly with each other.

So Affleck and Aniston are a couple having problems (she wants to get married, he apparently doesn’t), Cooper is a married guy attracted to Scarlett Johannson, Goodwin is a Bridget Jones-esque singleton with no clue about the rules of dating, and Long is a sympathetic bartender, and best friend of Connolly, who may just be the man she’s looking for. How Barrymore and Connelly fit in, we’re not sure, but it’s good to see Connelly, in particular, doing comedy.

Otherwise, this looks like it could be the business – smart, funny, nicely shot, with some good lines and an excellent bit of business at the beginning – Goodwin leaving a message on an answerphone with the aid of notes, something that Empire has never, ever done – that made us chuckle.

But don’t take our word for it. Click here to head over to MySpace and check out the first trailer for He’s Just Not That Into You.
