Just Go With It Tops US Box Office

Looks like the drawing power of Jennifer Aniston, Brooklyn Decker and Adam Sandler’s usual comedy stylings was enough to keep Justin Bieber from winning out at the US box office this weekend as Just Go With It topped the Bieber pic with $31 million for its first three days.

But the legions of Bieber fans had little reason to hit the ‘net and complain, since Justin Bieber: Never Say Never was nipping at Sandler’s heels with $30.2 million. Gnomeo and Juliet also opened decently, nabbing $25.5 million for third place in a healthy box office weekend.

But Kevin Macdonald’s first big stab away from documentaries with Roman action drama, The Eagle, didn’t fare quite so well. After some mixed reviews, the movie opened to $8.6 million in fourth. That still shoved last week’s top film, The Roommate, down to fifth place with the stalker thriller nabbing $8.4 million in its second weekend.

Sixth place was awards favourite The King’s Speech, which continues to do well despite the seemingly restrictive “R” rating. The film earned $7.4 million this weekend, and is now at $93.8 million in the US alone. No Strings Attached was seventh with $5.6 million and Sanctum fell from second to eighth with $5.1 million.

In ninth, True Gri****t made $3.7 million (with its US total now pushing past $160 million) and **The Green Hornet **fell five places to 10th, earning $3.6 million.
