Just Give Him Flowers

After making critical tidal waves with his debut Being John Malkovich, director Spike Jonze could team up with Tom Hanks for his next project. According to Variety columnist Michael Fleming, Jonze will direct Adaptation, an adaptation of Susan Orlean’s book The Orchid Thief, about a schemer who tries to make a fortune by cloning a rare orchid. The project is apparently on the fast track at Columbia studios, and a rewrite is currently underway to fashion the script as a vehicle for Hanks. Scribe Charlie Kaufman, Oscar-nominated for Being John Malkovich, is penning the script with his brother Donald.
