There were not many major surprises at this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards – at least in the film categories, where predictable names announced included Julianne Moore, Patricia Arquette, J.K. Simmons and the cast of Birdman, which took home the ensemble prize.

Eddie Redmayne scoring the top male acting prize for The Theory Of Everything was perhaps less easy to see coming, especially in a year where Birdman's Michael Keaton has been winning so much hardware, but Redmayne is still an Oscar possibility, and it’s not as though he was a dark horse.

In the TV world, Downton Abbey and Orange Is The New Black won the ensemble awards for drama and comedy, while House Of Cards’ Kevin Spacey was best drama actor and Viola Davis best drama actress for How To Get Away With Murder.
