If you thought the Summer Of Josh Brolin ended with the Sicario sequel, the trailer for The Legacy Of A Whitetail Deer Hunter is here to pour cold stream water on that idea.
The latest collaboration between writer/director Jody Hill and writer/actor Danny McBride (with John Carcieri sharing a script credit), Legacy finds Brolin as Buck Ferguson, a noted deer hunter who loves nothing more than to hunt the titular deer, making a living from a show about his exploits.
But on the home front, he hasn't been so on target, with his ex-wife (Carrie Coon) now living with another man (Scoot McNairy) and a distance from is son Jaden (Montana Jordan). To try to connect with the lad, he takes him on his first hunt, only to discover that Jaden is more interested in wifi connection and FaceTime than a rite of passage. And along for the ride, documenting everything as ever, is hapless, loyal cameraman Don (McBride).
As seems befitting for a hunter, this one has snuck out, arriving on Netflix on 6 July.
