Jorma Taccone Finds The Great Unknown

Lonely Island and Saturday Night Live comedy workhorse Jorma Taccone might not have found much success with his first attempt at film directing – that would be the forgettable SNL spin-off MacGruberbut he’s hoping for better things with his latest planned project, an adaptation of Image comic title The Great Unknown.

Written and illustrated by Duncan Rouleau, Unknown follows Zach Feld, a slacker who is tormented by the fact that everything he imagines shows up somewhere else. It’s as if someone is stealing his thoughts and selling them off to the highest bidder. His family just think he’s a workshy wastrel, content to float through life, but when Zach decides to prove them wrong and investigate what’s up, he discovers that he might just be right…

Michael Staburry, who landed on the Black List with his script Watch Roger Do His Thing and has several projects in development, is attached to write the screenplay.

Taccone, who has been responsible for co-writing and directing many of the Digital Shorts during his time on SNL, has also acted here and there, most notably as Chaka on the Land Of The Lost movie. He’ll next appear briefly in Island cohort Akiva Schaffer’s latest,** Neighbourhood Watch**, playing the delightfully named Casual Wanker #2…
