Looks like Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is sticking with giant characters for his potential new film. He's landed a deal to direct and produce a live-action Gundam movie for Netflix.

Brian K. Vaughan will write the script for the film, with the specific script details being kept quiet for now. But the original series is set in the Universal Century, an era in which humanity's growing population has led people to emigrate to space colonies. Eventually, the people living in the colonies seek their autonomy, and launch a war of independence against the Earth, featuring battles conducted in giant robots known as mobile suits.

The series originated in 1979 and has spawned televised anime, manga, animated films, video games, plastic models, toys, and novels among other media.

Legendary, which also produced Skull Island is also backing this film alongside original producers Sunrise.
