Though you might be forgiven for thinking that prequel Netflix series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp already had enough talent attached with the return of almost the entire film’s cast, there’s apparently room in the camp’s cabins for more. Jon Hamm, Chris Pine, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Jason Schwartzman, Michaela Watkins, John Slattery, Josh Charles, Randall Park, Jayma Mays, Lake Bell, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel and Richard Schiff are all now signed on. It almost leaves you breathless just reading that lot.

And they’re just the newcomers – the show already boasts Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, Ken Marino, Zak Orth, David Hyde Pierce, Joe Lo Truglio, Christopher Meloni, A.D. Miles, Marguerite Moreau, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon, co-writer Michael Showalter and Kevin Sussman. With David Wain and Showalter back on script duty and Wain calling the shots, the eight-part series will be set on – not hard to guess – the first day of Camp Firewood’s summer season in 1981, whereas the film chronicled the eventful final day.

So far, Deadline has ferreted out that Hamm is set to play a spy, Wiig, a snobby employee at the rival Camp Tigerclaw, with Schwartzman as the boy’s head counselor at Firewood. Pine? Well, he’s down to play a mysterious character, so we’ll have to wait to find out what he’s up to. The show is filming now and arrives on Netflix later this year, and you can find the teaser trailer below.
