Now here’s the ultimate set-up for an action movie: Keanu Reeves vs. every assassin in the world. And that’s precisely the premise of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, with the titular hitman now ‘excommunicado’ from the criminal underground, banned from the Continental hotel, and facing a $14 million bounty on his head. Factor in new faces including Halle Berry and Anjelica Huston and the return of director Chad Stahelski, and this is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of the year. Phew. This is looking like a fantastic follow-up to the further mythologising of John Wick: Chapter 2 – and then there’s the action. Samurai-sword-wielding assassins on bikes! Wick smashing faces with books! Those horse-riding scenes in the middle of New York! As for the plot, this is picking up immediately after the closing scene of the last film, with Wick having one hour’s head start to escape the city before the bounty goes live. With the trailer showing scenes in the desert, it looks like he’ll get out eventually – but with no small effort on his part.
