Once upon a time, there was only one name in providing the music for the big Star Wars films: John Williams. Now, the spin-off "Story" movies are changing that, with Michael Giacchino having worked on Rogue One and news via The Star Wars Show that John Powell will craft the themes for the still-untitled Han Solo film.

Powell is a veteran music man, having worked on movies such as the How To Train Your Dragon series, Green Zone, X-Men: The Last Stand and The Bourne Identity. He was nominated for an Oscar for the first Dragon.

This will mark the first time he scores for Ron Howard, who took over directing the film after original filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired following several disagreements.

In related Han Solo news, Howard has taken to Twitter to announce that Warwick Davis, who he worked with on Willow is collaborating with him again on the film.

The movie is still on course to arrive on 25 May next year.
