Back in August, at the Disney D23 event, Pixar stalwart and Monsters, Inc/Up director Pete Docter announced that he and producer Jonas Rivera were hard at work on a new film for the studio, due in 2014 and currently called The Untitled Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind. Now John Lasseter has revealed a tiny extra snippet about the plot.

Talking on the Charlie Rose show, Lasseter broached the subject of Pixar’s upcoming slate, which includes mythological adventure Brave, prequel Monsters University, The Untitled Dinosaur Movie (being directed by Docter’s Up collaborator, Bob Peterson) and the Mind pic.

While he didn’t give away much (this is, after all, John Lasseter, a man who guards his company’s future film secrets the same way JJ Abrams does), he did say a little bit, including mentioning the setting. Yes, the new film “takes place inside of a girl’s mind and it is about her emotions as characters, and that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen.”

And that was it for the sharing, but it certainly raises some interesting points. Setting the plot in a girl’s mind means Pixar seems committed to answering critics who have long complained about the lack of female lead characters, and the concept of emotions and ideas being portrayed as living, breathing beings in a ‘toon movie is certainly fascinating. We can’t wait to see what this all means, but sadly, we’ll have to be patient, as the first trailer likely won’t hit for at least a year…

The interview, by the way, touches on everything from Pixar’s history to its culture, and you can check it out here.
