If you were one of those people who refused to believe the Pacific Rim sequel was actually happening, prepare to have proof provided. Star John Boyega has tweeted out a first look at his character, the son of Idris Elba's late Stacker Pentecost from the set of Pacific Rim: Uprising.

Yes, the movie is officially known as Uprising – even though Boyega previously put a picture of the script with the title Pacific Rim: Maelstrom on his Instagram – and has Steven S. DeKnight directing a film that is mostly still wreathed in the fog of mystery. We don't yet know its plot, but that new name does suggest fresh interactions with the monstrous kaiju and new Jaegers to take them on.

The sequel to Guillermo del Toro's 2013 monster-mash action film also stars Scott Eastwood, Tian Jing and Levi Meaden. Uprising plans to smash everything in sight from 23 February next year.
