Joel Edgerton Planning A Felony

When he’s putting together films to shoot in his native Australia, Joel Edgerton always seems drawn to darker topics such as crime and death. He’s set to keep that track record going, having scribbled the script for Felony.

Edgerton is also planning to star in the film, which tracks the fallout after a decorated police officer accidentally runs a young cyclist off the road. Turns out the cop had been drinking while celebrating a successful drug bust with his colleagues. But when he decides to lie about the incident, he changes more than his own life.

Matthew Saville is calling the shots on this one, with producers touting the film at the Cannes Film Market, looking to interest foreign buyers. The current plan is to get the cameras cranking this October.

Last seen fighting an alien creature in The Thing, Edgerton is currently at work on Kathryn Bigelow’s Bin Laden pic Zero Dark Thirty. He’ll next take a break from villains and evil for The Odd Life Of Timothy Gree****n and will then be seen in Baz Lurhmann’s new, 3D take on The Great Gatsby.
