Despite reports that the Hurt Locker team would be moving ahead cautiously given the recent world-rocking news, casting seems well underway on Katherine Bigelow's Osama Bin Laden movie, with Joel Edgerton the first to actor to sign on the line.

The erstwhile Owen Lars will play one of the Navy SEAL team searching for Osama. He apparently turned down the lead in Snow White and the Huntsman for the privilege, but with The Thing, Warriors and Timothy Green all already in the can and due out this year, that shouldn't hurt his profile too badly.

As previously reported, Bigelow's film was already in the works before Monday's events, and is now being frantically re-jigged by Mark Boal to remain current. We wonder which version of events he's going to plump for.

Safe locations are currently being scouted, with a view to filming in the summer.
