Joe Cornish has taken his time finding the right project to follow directorial debut Attack The Block. And to be fair to the man, he’s also been distracted by writing assignments including the years-long work on Ant-Man with Edgar Wright. It would seem that Universal has finally found the right fit for him, as Cornish is reportedly aboard to make **Section 6.

Jack O’Connell is aboard to star in the historical spy drama based on Aaron Berg’s script. The basic concept, as the name suggests, follows the agents involved in the founding of MI6, also known as the Secret Intelligence Service (or to give the acronym its full explanation, Military Intelligence, Section Six). MI6 is the organisation that deals with security risks outside the UK and gathers information on foreign threats.

The next task will be to find a big name star for the role of Sir George Mansfield Smith-Cummings, who served as the service’s first director, and inspired James Bond’s M. O’Connell, who is currently on screen in 300: Rise Of An Empire, will be a protégé. Universal is hoping this one launches a franchise, and Cornish could be just the man to help birth a series of films.
