Acting as a sort of reboot while also using elements from at least **The Terminator **and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the new film will still include central figure Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) helped by time-travelling soldier Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) to survive an attack by a cyborg from the future intent on killing her before she can birth human resistance leader John Connor (Jason Clarke). Simmons will be a world-weary detective who has been driven to drink by following the bizarre case of the woman who has terrible luck with killer technology across three decades. Within that time frame Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier’s script can explore elements from both of the original movies, plus potentially the others. Recent plot rumours surfaced about twisty, Back To The Future-style visits to the chronology, though nothing has been confirmed.
Filming on this one should be kicking-off soon, in order for the film to make its June 26, 2015 release date over here.
