Jim Carrey Is God

No… really

Worshipped by many and certainly capable of overacting to Biblical proportions, Jim Carrey will finally get his shot at playing God. Re-teaming with Ace Ventura director, Tom Shadyac, Carrey will ascend to omnipotence for his role in Bruce Almighty. Carrey will play whiny, everday guy who, like Job, questions why God has visited so much ill fortune upon him. But, in a move you won't find in any edition of the Old Testament, God takes the criticism a little personally and gives Carrey the powers of the Almighty for 24 hours to see how easy he finds it to govern all of creation. Naturally a little heady with the weight of the universe on his shoulders, Carrey's new-born deity tries desperately to deal with his somewhat unusual change of circumstances. Freed up for Godhood after abandoning Gary Ross comedy Dog Years, Carrey will shooting Bruce Almighty in July.
