Jason Statham, Jet Li, a grudge, boxes of ammo and a hot Asian chick with throwing knives – surely these are things from which nothing but greatness can come. Yes, it’s pure fried gold on paper and, if the new trailer for Phillip G Atwell’s explosive action drama is anything to go by, War is going to be just as delightfully daft on screen.
The new trailer features some spectacularly cheesy voiceover lines – ‘an underworld ruled by fear’, ‘a renegade FBI agent’ – that could have come straight out of the trailer for The Comedian, but it all looks like tremendous guilty fun. It’s nice to see ‘retired’ action star Jet Li back to cracking heads too, but if we’re honest, our money’s still on the Stathe.
