Given how many films they appeared in or were attached to last year it felt as though Jessica Chastain and Bryan Cranston had somehow cast a spell over Hollywood{ =nofollow}. It appears the magic is still in effect, as they’ve just been announced to voice characters in Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.

Actually, given the fact that the DreamWorks’ toon is racing towards the finish line and will hit our cinemas on October 19 (and Stateside on June 8), we’re guessing they’ve been on board for a while now, but that the company decided to keep their presence a secret and release their names at a later date for added press coverage. Which only the most foolish of people would buy int…. Damnit!

Anyhoo, the film itself finds the usual Madagascar gang – lion Alex (Ben Stiller), zebra Marty (Chris Rock), hippo Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith) and giraffe Melman (David Schwimmer) looking to get back to New York by hitching a ride on a travelling circus, which, as they soon discover, brings its own issues. Along for the journey as usual are the penguins and Sacha Baron Cohen’s insane King Julien. Chastain will be playing a jaguar named Gia, while Cranston is a Siberian Tiger. Also new this time? Martin Short as sea lion Stefano and Frances McDormand as animal control expert Captain Chantel DuBois.
