Once a film has finished shooting, you can’t add any more cast members, right? Oh, silly rabbit. Welcome to Doug Liman’s world, where, if his previous movies have taught us anything, it’s that all bets are off, even with a big sci-fi film like Edge Of Tomorrow. So of course Jeremy Piven will be shooting some addition scenes with Tom Cruise and co.

For those who may have forgotten, and anyone who didn’t know in the first place, Edge Of Tomorrow (formerly All You Need Is Kill) finds Cruise as an army PR officer thrown onto the front lines of a war against a dangerous alien enemy when he crosses one particular superior. Unprepared for the terrors of actual combat, he dies quickly, but via a time loop keeps being sent back to the day of his death. Eventually, this helps him figure out a tactical advantage against the extra terrestrial baddies.

Piven, who was conveniently in the UK shooting Mr Selfridge, has been added to the cast as Colonel Walter Marx and will take part in planned additional shooting alongside Cruise and Emily Blunt.

Edge Of Tomorrow is still scheduled to hit our screens on May 30 next year, ahead of a June 6 US release. It seems only fair that we see it first since so much of the movie was shot in Blighty… For more on the film, check out our report on the Comic-Con presentation.
