Finally able to realise his dream of getting Western story Godless up and running thanks to financing and distribution from Netflix, Scott Frank is busy building his cast for the drama miniseries. He already has Jack O'Connell is place and is in talks with Jeff Daniels and Scoot McNairy to co-star.

This has been a passion project of Frank's for years, developed for screens both big and small in the past. Now Netflix is setting it up as a limited series, and Steven Soderbergh – long the story's champion – is aboard as a producer.

Not much has been released about the actual plot or how the leads will fit into it, but Godless is apparently set in the 1800s at a New Mexico mining town, where we can only imagine there will be ambition, greed and gunfire in healthy measure. It will, you'll be unsurprised to hear, shoot in Santa Fe, New Mexico this year.

Daniels was last seen in The Divergent Series: Allegiant and is set to reprise his role as David in the next film, Ascendant. McNairy was part of Batman V Superman and has worked on several movies since, including Sleepless and The Legacy Of A Whitetail Deer Hunter for Jody Hill.
