Even before landing the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in The Artis****t, French star Jean Dujardin attracted plenty of attention from casting agents and directors across the pond. He’s been breaking out the Rosetta Stone to master English and nab some of the jobs coming his way, but now he’s contemplating the highest-profile part yet, starting talks to join the cast of Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf Of Wall Street.
The film has been cooking for a while now, with Terence Winter adapting Jordan Belfort’s memoir. It's about his time spent as a broker who lived large but fell hard when he got involved in corporate fraud.
Leonardo DiCaprio is aboard to play Belfort, with Jonah Hill as his best pal, Danny Porush. More recently, Kyle Chandler signed on to play FBI agent Coleman, who built the case against Belfort.
If he joins up, Dujardin will be Jean-Jacques Handali, a Swiss banker who is deep in laundering money for Belfort’s company. And it’s not the only money-based project to which his name has been attached: he’s part of the cast of Eric Rochant’s Mobius, which deals with spies and dodgy financial behaviour.
Scorsese is set to begin filming this August in New York.
