When last we checked in on the progress of the sequel to 2012’s hockey comedy **Goon, word was that the film would shoot in the summer under the direction of the first film’s Michael Dowse. There has been a slight change in plans as Jay Baruchel will instead make his directorial debut with what we now know is called **Goon: Last Of The Enforcers{ =nofollow}.

Baruchel has been a driving force behind the Goon films from the start, and he’ll add directing to co-writing (with Jesse Chabot) and acting in the movie this time.

Seann William Scott is back as hockey enforcer Doug “The Thug” Glatt for a story that sees his team, the Halifax Highlanders playing alongside new team members during a lockout. Scott has been busy training again in both fighting and skating for the film. He told Reddit users in an AMA that “if everybody does their jobs and we execute the amazing script that Jay Baruchel and his co-writer wrote, the fucking movie will be wicked.”

The cameras should be rolling and the fists flying next month.
