Jason Winer is in talks to direct the black comedy **Shining City **for Warner Bros.

Based on a novel by Seth Greenland, the movie will follow an unemployed man who inherits a dry cleaning business from his late brother… only to discover that it’s a front for a brothel. The man sets about giving the business a professional sheen, which attracts the ire of a rival business.

Could be nice – a cross between Risky Business and Night Shift, if you will. If it even hits anywhere near those heights, then Winer will have done well.

Winer started out as an actor – you can see him, if you don’t blink too fast, in the likes of You, Me And Dupree, **Van Wilder **and The Sum Of All Fears – but he’s been making a splash recently as a TV director, on the sitcoms **Modern Family **and Samantha Who?

Shining City, should he sign on, will be his first movie.

The screenplay is being written by Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, who last wrote the John Cusack comedy, Hot Tub Time Machine. Donald De Line is producing for Warner Bros.
