Jamie Foxx is a big star. Kevin Hart is a rising star. Put them together in a film and what do you get? Screen Gems is hoping for a huge box office hit and is now figuring out deals for both actors to share the screen in **Black Phantom.

Despite the name, Black Phantom is not a superhero film. It’ll follow a mob hit man who is double-crossed by his bosses. When a lethal assassin known only by the titular moniker is set to hunt him down, he turns the tables again by recruiting the man’s help to exact a little payback. There’s no mention in Variety’s story as to which role either Foxx or Hart would play if they do officially sign on, or whether the tone will be dramatic or comedic, but if it’s a darker offering than we’re used to from Hart, it could be interesting to see him tackle something heavier than being the motor mouthed goofball of his recent outings.

It’s all coming together thanks to Ride Along producer Will Packer and Annie director/producer Will Gluck, who are working together on this one, with the hope that** Ride Along**’s Tim Story will handle the megaphone duties. He has to work on the Ride Along sequel first, but could conceivably then turn his attention to the Black Phantom script from Dave Lease and Megan Hinds.

Foxx will next show up in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, due on April 18. He’ll follow that with the Annie remake on February 6 next year. Hart, still on our screens in the first Ride Along, has About Last Night hitting cinemas on March 21, Think Like A Man Too out September 19 and The Wedding Ringer awaiting a date.
