James Wan, Knight Rider

Knight Rider, that staple of evening telly from the 1980s, has been revisited several times, with many potential movies mooted but nothing actually making it to screens. Now Spyglass Media is hoping that James Wan – in his capacity as a producer, at least – can change all that, teaming up for a new film version.

TJ Fixman, who has mostly worked in the video game arena (on titles such as Ratchet And Clank), but who has several scripts in different stages of development with the studios, will write the script, aiming to update the story of Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff most famously in the show) and the Knight Industries Two Thousand, or K.I.T.T, a powerful Pontiac Trans Am with a sarcastic central intelligence (voiced in the show by William Daniels) and all manner of special features including Turbo Boost and bulletproof armour.

The new idea is apparently to update the story to the current day, and we're sure there will be plenty of new tricks up K.I.T.T's sleeve... er...wheel arches. Could the Hoff cameo? We're sure it's a possibility. Now, though, we mostly wait to see if it actually comes to pass.
