With the success of The Jungle Book, it makes sense that Disney might want to consider more movies featuring animals, and the studio is now developing Wild City for The Spectacular Now's James Ponsoldt to write and direct.
Little is known about the project at this early stage, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, it's an original idea dreamt up by the writer/director and will see animals living wild in Los Angeles going on an adventure. It's described as a blend of live-action and CG, so it seems likely that the creatures will be brought to life digitally. Unless Ponsoldt really wants to make his life hell and aim for computer-generated humans interacting with real animals...
Ponsoldt has has success with smaller movies so far, including Spectacular Now, Smashed and The End Of The Tour. He's stepping up a level for his next film, The Circle, which stars Tom Hanks, Emma Watson and John Boyega. We're still awaiting a confirmed release date for the tech thriller.
