Before we go any further, please note, and we can’t make this any clearer: SPOILER. ALERT. There is a potentially big spoiler for The Wolverine in the footage below, so if you’re in any way worried about staying pure in your knowledge of the film before it arrives, please navigate away now. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

So in an age where teases for trailers have become de rigueur, Wolverine director James Mangold has decided to take the game one step further, breaking out popular Twitter-adjacent video app Vine to post a six-second blast of material from the new movie’s trailer, set to hit on Wednesday.

The footage includes a glimpse of something we won’t discuss until lower down the page, just in case you’re having second thoughts, but it does at least serve to whet our appetites for the claw-laden action and martial arts goodness on the way to screens. Yes, we could probably have done without the spoiler moment, no matter how much it has been rumoured, and the use of tiny teasers is becoming a little irksome, but all credit to Mangold for finding a new way to do it.

So, once again: SPOILER ALERT. Yes, that appears to be Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey in some form – possibly flashback, since she’s supposed to be dead in the X-Universe – but long rumoured and now clearly part of the film.

As for The Wolverine itself, the movie finds Logan (Hugh Jackman) trying to battle his past demons while finding fresh trouble in Japan. Filled with self-loathing, our spiky (in several senses of the word, including hair) hero is sought out by a young woman named Yukio (Rila Fukushima), who asks for his help. The request draws him into an even more complicated situation.

With Brian Tee, Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto and Hal Yamanouchi also among the cast, **The Wolverine **storms our screens on July 25. It’s been a Wolvie-tastic day for the film, with new pictures and posters online.
