Music is a huge part of the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies, thanks to tune-obsessed writer/director James Gunn. With Vol. 3 on its way next month, Gunn has taken to twitter to reveal the playlist – or Awesome Mix – for the new movie, along with a link to the Spotify version. Take a look…

As per usual, it's crammed with unexpected choices, including Bruce Springsteen’s "Badlands" to the Replacements’ "I Will Dare," Faith No More’s "We Care A Lot" and the Flaming Lips’ "Do You Realize??"

"It was very, very difficult," Gunn tells Rolling Stone of winnowing down the latest list for what would be on Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) Zune. "I felt very uncomfortable picking out songs and making sure that this was the right soundtrack. Do I move on to just all Eighties songs? Do I use all Nineties songs? Or do I do what a Zune would actually have — songs from different eras, which is what I ended up doing."

For more from Gunn (plus Pratt and Karen "Nebula" Gillan) on the new movie, head to Rolling Stone's site. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 will fly into cinemas on 3 May.
