There was a time when it felt as though James Franco was attached to every project out there – or at least rumoured for it. While it doesn’t appear that he’s slowing down his work rate much, he is at least locked into shooting Oz: The Great And Powerful for a while. But he’s already lining up other jobs for once he’s free of Sam Raimi’s clutches. Franco has agreed to take a supporting role in Harmony Korine’s new indie pic Spring Breakers.

The plot sees four college girls deciding that the only way they’ll be able to afford a really fun trip on spring break is to rob a fast food restaurant. Sadly for them, the authorities are waiting for them once they arrive in Florida, and they’re swiftly arrested.

But then Alien (Franco), a dodgy arms/drug dealer, spies an opportunity, bails them out and recruits them to off his archrival, a murderer named wait for it… Arch. Looks like Korine’s going pun-happy this time.

Emma Roberts is in talks for Candy, one of the lead roles, a young lady who gets her kicks from danger. So she should be overjoyed at the unusual trip.

Korine aims to kick off shooting during next year’s spring break season in with Franco planning to shoot all his scenes in two weeks before dashing off to make 17 other movies and earn six more degrees.
