The world of Iron Man 3 continues to grow in interesting ways as new cast members point to possible developments. The latest name signing on the dotted to join the ensemble is James Badge Dale.

Look away now if you don’t want to know whom Dale has signed on to play… He’s going to be a villain named Eric Savin who, in the comics, was introduced as an Army colonel badly inured by a landmine while investigating a high-tech conspiracy. He was rebuilt as a powerful cyborg named Coldblood-7 who had dealings with S.H.I.E.L.D. in his time. Of course, it’s entirely possible that director Shane Black and co-writer Drew Pearce have merely appropriated the name, and Dale may never end up becoming a cyborg. It’s more likely that he’ll be the person injected with nanobots who causes trouble for Tony Stark.

Dale is the latest addition to a cast that now includes returning veterans Robert Downey Jr, Paul Bettany and Gwyneth Paltrow (plus, we’re hoping, Don Cheadle) alongside newcomers Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Andy Lau and Rebecca Hall.

Filming is set to start shortly and the movie will be with us on May 3, 2013. Start cranking the AC/DC! Dale was last seen in Shame and The Grey and has finished work on Flight, **The Lone Ranger **and World War Z, which will all hit our screens next year (unless Flight lands earlier and makes it into 2012)…
