Even though he's still in the middle of editing his current film, the Suspiria remake, director Luca Guadagnino has his eye on a potential new movie. He has Jake Gyllenhaal and Benedict Cumberbatch interested in the lead roles for a new, untitled thriller.

The script comes from Locke's Steven Knight, and while most of the details are still being kept quiet, the film will apparently focus on two old friends, a business titan and a journalist, who meet up in an exotic locale. The screenplay features a good role for a female lead and while the leads haven't signed deals yet, their agreement would likely push this one into full production next year.

Studiocanal is aboard to produce the film after working with the director on 2015's A Bigger Splash and Guadagnino has festival hit Call Me By Your Name headed for general release in the UK on 27 October.

Gyllenhaal will be back on our screens in Bong Joon-Ho's Okja, due to hit Netflix on 28 June. He has Boston Marathon bombing film Stronger also on the way. Cumberbatch has a wealth of projects awaiting release, including returning as Dr. Stephen Strange for both Thor: Ragnarok (27 October) and Avengers: Infinity War (27 April next year). He'll also be part of The Current War, which lands on 5 January 2018.
