Having worked together on boxing pic Southpaw, star Jake Gyllenhaal and director Antoine Fuqua are looking to team back up for The Guilty.

True Detective's Nic Pizzolatto has written the script, which adapts Gustav Moller's Danish drama Den Skyldige. Taking place over the course of a single morning in a 911 dispatch call center, the story finds call operator Joe Bayler (Gyllenhaal) trying to save a caller in grave danger... But he soon discovers that nothing is as it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out.

"I couldn’t be more excited to work with Antoine again," Gyllenhaal says in a statement. "Our time together on Southpaw was one of the great artistic experiences of my career, and I cannot wait to be back on set with him again. The Guilty is a special story, and one that we all feel very close to."

The current plans to to shoot in November in a single Los Angeles location, which aids with COVID-19 safety procedures. Fuqua is squeezing this one in before he makes Emancipation for Apple TV+ with Will Smith starring.
