Jackie Chan is no stranger to voice-over work, particularly with his regular duties on the Kung Fu Panda films as Monkey. He's swapping species for the follow-up to The Nut Job, and will play Mr. Feng, the highly territorial leader of a gang of city mice.

The Nut Job 2 – for that is indeed the title, and not The Nuttier Job, as you might have suspected – brings back Surly Squirrel (Will Arnett), this time needed to help his friends when the evil mayor [{href='http://www.empireonline.com/people/bobby-moynihan' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer'}) of Oakton decides to bulldoze Liberty Park and build a dangerous amusement park in its place. Surly and his ragtag group of animal pals must band together to save their home, defeat the mayor, and take back the park.

Katherine Heigl is back as Andie, while Maya Rudolph again plays Precious. New voices this time? Peter Stormare as Gunther and Bobby Cannavale as Frankie.

“We’re happy to announce the addition of Jackie Chan to the cast of The Nut Job 2,” says director Cal Brunker. “Jackie brings a unique voice to our movie, and it’s a real joy to be working with such a talented, award-winning actor and cultural icon.” His presence probably won't hurt business in China, either...

The Nut Job 2 will be out in the US on May 19 next year, but has yet to pencil in a UK release date.
