Jack Black Says Be Kind Rewind

Fresh from working with Napoleon Dynamite’s Jared Hess on Nacho Libre, Jack Black is continuing his association with quality directors.

For Michel Gondry’s Be Kind Rewind, he’ll play Jerry, a man tortured by terrible headaches, who is convinced his mind is melting. But his brain is actually magnetized, and he ends up destroying the movies at his best friend’s store. In order to keep from going under and maintain the trade of the shop’s one loyal customer – an elderly woman with dementia – they recreate a load of films, including The Lion King, Robocop and Back To The Future.

It sounds hilarious, and apparently poured out of Gondry. "Michel is a super-fast writer," producer Georges Bermann said. "He handed in a draft in three weeks. Focus Features was interested the second they heard the pitch and made the deal within a week."
