Despite a 58% drop in business from last weekend’s launch,** Iron Man 2**’s second week in the charts saw it cling to the top spot despite competition from the likes of Russell Crowe, Queen Latifah and Amanda Seyfried. According to studio estimates, the Marvel hero made $53 million this weekend, adding to a US total now standing at about $212 million.

And though Robin Hood and his merry men managed to take the lead overseas, the period prequel could only rustle up $37.1 million in the US. That still put it ahead of fellow new arrivals, including romantic drama Letters To Juliet ($13.7 million for third) and Queen Latifah/common rom-com Just Wright ($8.5 million in fourth).

How To Train Your Dragon continues to soar in the charts, landing at fifth place with $5.1 million. Expect it to drop a little more sharply once DreamWorks’ Shrek Forever After arrives across the pond.

As for the rest of the charts, **A Nightmare On Elm Street **sank to sixth place ($4.7 million), Date Night’s strong legs began to slowly fade, leaving it at seventh ($4 million), and **The Back-Up Plan **dropped to eighth with $2.4 million.

Bringing up the rear were Furry Vengeance ($2.3 million) and Clash Of The Titans ($1.2 million as it prepares to exit the top 10).
