Ambassador Netflix, with these Marvel shows you are really spoiling us! No sooner had Luke Cage burst his way through the doors of the streaming service with his debut season than news of his Marvel stablemate, Iron Fist arrives in hot pursuit. Behold: a brief teaser trailer announcing the date, and the first image from the new series.

As that 15-second video notes, the first season of Iron Fist will arrive on 17 March, 2017. In keeping with the previous Marvel shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage), the season will consist of 13 one-hour episodes, all arriving in one lump, ripe for bingeing. A first-look teaser arrived at Comic-Con back in July.

British actor Finn Jones – thus far best known for his turn in Game Of Thrones as the ‘Knight of Flowers’, Loras Tyrell – will be leading up the series as billionaire Danny Rand, able to summon the mystical power of the ‘Iron Fist’.

The character first debuted in Marvel comics in 1974, partly as a response to the craze of martial arts movies popularised by Bruce Lee. He frequently paired up with Luke Cage. He is also a key player in the superhero team The Defenders – and the Netflix adaptation of that crossover is nearing the horizon, due sometime in 2017.
