The remake of 1985’s horror comedy Fright Night has been slowly creeping the halls of talent agencies, looking for victims it can get its teeth into. With most of the main cast already assembled, one of the big holdouts was a female lead. Now the position has been filled by British actress Imogen Poots.

Last seen in Neil Marshall’s Centurion, Poots has also cropped up in the likes of 28 Weeks Later, Me And Orson Welles and will be seen in the upcoming Chatroom.

**Fright Night **already includes Anton Yelchin as Charley Brewster, a young man living in the Las Vegas suburbs who becomes convinced that his charming new neighbour Jerry (Colin Farrell) is a vampire. But when he tries to convince his mother (Toni Collette) and best mate (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) of the danger, no one believes him. He turns to schlocky Vegas stage magician Peter Vincent (David Tennant) as his last hope.

Assuming (as it appears) that the new film holds on to the original movie’s names, Poots will play Amy, Charlie's girlfriend and one of the more popular people in school who has no idea he’s such a closet nerd.

With Buffy writer Marti Noxon behind the script, Craig Gillespie starts shooting the film this summer in New Mexico.
