Though he tends to play heroes more than bad guys, Sam Worthington is headed into villainous territory for the new thriller** Alive Alone**. He’s set to star alongside Idris Elba and Noomi Rapace{ =nofollow}.

Writer Khurram Longi is using the script (a veteran of both The Black List and the Brit List) to mark his directorial debut with the New York-set thriller. Elba will play Jamal, a former detainee at Guantanamo Bay who meets and helps Sarah (Rapace) a prostitute on the run from a fearsome, violent crime boss. Worthington, as you might be able to guess, is set as the troublemaker.

Thunder Road Pictures has stumped up the cash for this one, which is currently being touted to buyers at the European Film Market.

Elba has three films coming up, including** The Gunman**, Second Coming and No Good Deed. He’s also attached to the long-gestating Luther film and is currently on the cover of Vanity Fair's Hollywood issue, so you know he's Hot Right Now. Worthington has worked on** The Keeping Room**, Paper Planes and Kidnapping Freddy Heineke****n, and is part of the cast for David Ayer’s Sabotage, due here on May 9. Rapace has a Tom Hardy double bill due, with roles in The Drop (formerly Animal Rescue) and Child 44 both coming up.
