You may be aware that Ice Cube will star in a remake of classic comedy Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House. But here’s the news: it’s getting a makeover.

The film is being retooled as the sequel to Cube’s surprisingly successful family comedy Are We There Yet? The title? The somewhat less inspired Are We Done Yet?

Revolution Studios are quickly locking down There Yet stars such as Nia Long and the two annoying kids. Steve Carr is still directing, but there’s been one other slight change to the plan: Thomas Hayden Church, who was signed to play a contractor who clashes with Cube as his house renovation turns to chaos, will now be busy working on a little superhero film. Maybe you’ve heard of it: bloke dresses up as a spider?

The storyline isn’t straying far from the template for a Blandings remake, but David Stem and David Weiss, the writers of the original Cube-com, are now retooling the script into a sequel.
