After eight years of slaving away on an adaptation of Elinor Lipman’s novel And Then She Found Me, Helen Hunt is about to make her directorial debut.

And she’s hired a decent cast to star alongside her in the drama. Colin Firth, Matthew Broderick and Bette Midler are all taking roles in the film, which sees a schoolteacher (Hunt) tracked down by her birth mother (Midler) and the impact it has on her life.

The movie is gearing up production now in New York.
